Name a better combo than Neapolitan pizza and natural wine — I’ll wait.
What do you get when a restaurant consultant combines their passion for natural wine with their proprietary slow-dough Neapolitan pizza recipe? In Cincinnati, Ohio, that formula will directly result in Companion, an up-and-coming pizza and wine bar. I had the privilege of collaborating with Companion’s founder to create a unique brand suite that would encapsulate the heart and soul of their Neapolitan pizza and wine concept while remaining true to its “everyman” sensibilities. My goal was to design a brand that was not just visually striking but also embodied a sense of approachability, warmth, and timelessness.
To create a memorable visual identity, I developed a custom pattern that intertwines the essence of Neapolitan tradition and Cincinnati's cultural charm. This pattern evokes a sense of continuity and harmony throughout the brand's materials. It feels equally at home on a postcard as it does utilized as a wallpaper treatment in the eventual brick-and-mortar space.
The brand suite features a proprietary icon inspired by the perfect pairing of Neapolitan pizza and natural wine while also nodding back to the name “Companion” through a linked-arms motif.
