How might the art school dropout envision the perfect after-class hangout? Study Hall at UC Berkeley’s Residence Inn seeks to embody just that.

Using the art school dropout as my inspiration, I created this brand identity for Study Hall — hinging on the traditional elements of academia but with an added bit of irreverence. The resulting brand feels fresh and a little bit nostalgic, while toeing the line between classic and cheeky.

Inspired by the classic composition notebook pattern, I designed these die-cut check presenters to feel uniquely connected to the concept while harkening back to the art school dropout’s notebook customized with their choice of stickers.
